SWIMMING
David Davies predicted a bright future for the Great
North Swim after the Olympic medallist claimed victory in the
inaugural event at Lake Windermere. The 23-year-old won a silver
medal in the men's marathon 10 kilometre open water event in Beijing
behind gold medal winner Maarten van der Weijden. But it was Davies
who came out on top over the one-mile course in what was the UK's
largest open water event which contained a field of over 2,200
swimmers of all ages, standards and experiences.
PARALYMPICS

to 41 golds on day eight, silver was the order of the day as Miller
and swimmers Jim Anderson, Robert Welbourn and Fran Williamson
finished second, while Greaves and Natalie Jones, in the pool, won bronze. |
