BASKETBALL
Great Britain head coach Chris Finch claimed his
side's momentous 67-64 victory over the Czech Republic and subsequent
qualification for the European Championship finals was just reward
for hard work and dedication
PARALYMPICS
China completed the demonstration of their sporting
supremacy by soaring to the top of the Paralympics medal table in
Beijing. The hosts, who were also the leading nation at last month's
Olympics, won 89 gold medals and 211 in all in 11 days of
competition. Great Britain were next best but had less than half the
success of China, with 42 golds and a total medal tally of 102, while
the United States were third with 36 and 99. |
