Great Britain's successful qualification campaign for
next year's European finals came to a slightly anti-climactic end in
Cazin when they were beaten 89-80 by Bosnia-Herzegovina in a match
that, in the second half, was merely about pride for both teams

Christine Ohuruogu had to settle for fourth place on
her return to China in the Shanghai Golden Grand Prix. Ohuruogu, who
struck 400 metres gold at the Beijing Olympics ahead of favourite
Sanya Richards, was never in contention as he sought to defend her
Shanghai title.
ROWING
Great Britain's women's eight found a silver medal
lining in the cloudy and rainy conditions of a storm-rescheduled
European Championships on Saturday morning in Athens. The eight came
home just adrift of Romania but 10 seconds ahead of the rest of the
field to take second place in the final. |
