1993: Liam Brady resigned as manager of Celtic. His assistant Joe Jordan was put in temporary charge.
1995: Steve Coppell was confirmed as manager of First Division Manchester City, ending the club's 42-day search for a successor to Alan Ball. He lasted just 33 days before quitting because of stress.
2000: Kevin Keegan sensationally resigned as England coach after the 1-0 defeat by Germany in the final match to be played at the old Wembley stadium.
2003: Rio Ferdinand was omitted from the England squad to face Turkey in their crunch Euro 2004 qualifier after failing to attend a drugs test.
