1990: Simon Hodgkinson scored a then record 23 points for England against Argentina at Twickenham.
1997: The Premiership fixture between West Ham and Crystal Palace was abandoned after 65 minutes when the floodlights failed with the score at 2-2.
1999: Brian Kidd was sacked as manager of Blackburn after the pre-season favourites for a swift return to the Premiership won just three matches out of 14 in the First Division.
2004: Denmark's Mianne Bagger made history by becoming the first transsexual woman to earn a place on golf's Ladies European Tour.
2006: Chelsea's Ivory Coast international striker Didier Drogba signed a new four-year contract with the Stamford Bridge club.
