1990: Nick Faldo beat Ian Woosnam by one hole to capture the Suntory World Matchplay Championship.
2002: Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane was fined a record £150,000 and banned for five weeks by the Football Association over comments in his autobiography referring to a controversial tackle on Alf Inge Haaland.
2003: Sammy McIlroy resigned as Northern Ireland manager.
2004: Manchester United's plc board revealed a takeover by American multi-millionaire Malcolm Glazer was a "possibility".
2004: Australia's Shane Warne claimed his 533rd victim to overtake Muttiah Muralitharan as the world's leading Test wicket-taker in the second Test against India.
2004: Andy Robinson was appointed as full-time head coach of the England rugby union team.

Boniface Kirui has won the Belgrade Race Through History ahead of fellow Kenyan Joseph Kiptoo in the closest of finishes. The pair had a cat-and-mouse struggle in the closing stages until Kirui edged to the front to win the six kilometre race in 17minutes 15seconds.
