CYCLING
Lizzie Armitstead won her second title in two days
with victory in the women's points race at the British National Track
Cycling Championships in Manchester. The 20-year-old from Otley, who
won three medals at the World Championships in March, once again
demonstrated her form before next week's Track World Cup at the same venue,
SWIMMING
Heather Frederiksen
won her fifth gold medal of the IPC Swimming European Championships
in Reykjavik - as Great Britain collected six gold, four silver and
four bronze medals. The City of Salford swimmer won the women's S8
100 metres freestyle in one minute 7.51 seconds - ahead of team-mate
Emma Hollis in third - while Sascha Kindred, Stephanie Millward,
Natalie Massey, Matthew Walker and Daniel Pepper also won gold medals.
RALLYING
Sebastien Loeb made the perfect start to his bid to
secure his sixth straight World Rally Championship title by winning
four of Friday's six stages to lead by 5.3 seconds after day one of
the Rally of Great Britain. |
