ICE HOCKEY
Great Britain shrugged off a 26-hour bus ride to produce a fantastic 4-1 victory in their World Championship opener against Croatia. Preparations for the Division One Group B tournament in Slovenia were in disarray due to the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud which saw their flight cancelled, resulting in a long journey by road. However, having arrived at the rink just two hours before face-off, goals from Jonathan Phillips, Ben O'Connor, Greg Chambers and Robert Dowd ensured victory, with Dominik Kanaet having levelled.
