CYCLING
Lampre were celebrating a dramatic one-two victory on the fourth stage of the Tour of Poland after Mirco Lorenzetto had narrowly pipped Grega Bole at the finish line in Cieszyn. The duo moved ahead on the final cobbled climb up to the finish line in Cieszyn and somewhat surprisingly Lorenzetto refused to peel off for his team-mate and battled on instead to secure a slender victory. Former world champion Alessandro Ballan (BMC Racing) rounded off the podium in third.
SWIMMING
Daniel Fogg was the first of three British swimmers home when he finished 11th in the 10kilometre open water event as the European Aquatics Championships got under way in Budapest. Fogg swam well in Lake Balaton to finish in one hour 54 minutes 40.2 seconds with fellow Briton Richard Charlesworth in 27th place in 1hr 56mins 33.2secs, three places ahead of David Davies.
