ATHLETICS
Yohan Blake set a new personal best of 9.82 seconds as he reproduced the form that saw him claim the 100 metres world title at the Diamond League in Zurich tonight. Blake was crowned world champion last month after he stormed to victory in Daegu in a race that saw Olympic title-holder Usain Bolt disqualified for a false start.
Jenny Meadows responded to her World Championship disappointment by coming third in the 800 metres at the Diamond League in Zurich. The Briton failed to make the final in Daegu but her performance on Thursday, when she crossed the line in one minute 58.92 seconds, ensured she won the Diamond Race - the aggregate of results over the season - and the US dollars 40,000 prize that goes with it.
