A last-minute goal from Richard Smith saw England
recover from letting a two-goal lead slip to beat New Zealand 4-3 and
keep their medal hopes alive at the Champions Trophy in

seconds to put England ahead in the winner-take-all clash, but Andy
Hayward levelled from a penalty corner in the seventh minute.
CYCLING
Garmin's Daniel Martin claimed the biggest overall
victory of his career so far when landing the Tour of Poland on
Saturday. The Irishman - who won the Route du Sud in 2008 - held on
to his overall lead despite treacherous conditions at the end of the
seventh and final stage which covered 163.9km from Nowy Targ to
Kraków and was won in a sprint finish by HTC-Columbia's
André Greipel.
MOTOR CYCLING
Alastair Seeley secured his maiden success in the
British Superbikes Championship in the opening race at Brands Hatch
to claim pole position for Sunday's second run. The Relentless Suzuki
by TAS rider, 30, triumphed in wet conditions at the Kent circuit
after storming into the lead on the opening lap of a race that had to
be restarted and was run over 10 laps.
MODERN PENTATHLON
Freyja Prentice won individual silver and helped Great
Britain capture team gold at the modern pentathlon World Junior
Championships in Hungary. The 20-year-old, who is studying for a
