returning from a four-year doping ban, claiming victory at the Ergo
World challenge meeting in Tallinn, Estonia on Sunday. The former
world and Olympic champion, who was banned for four years in 2006
after testing positive for excessive testosterone, clocked 10.17
seconds to finish ahead of fellow American Rubin Williams.

BASKETBALL
Great Britain passed a big test on the road to the
European Championships and did it in dramatic fashion as they beat
Macedonia 104-96 in overtime in Newcastle. As they did in their
opening qualifier in Hungary, Britain wasted a big lead to trail in
the fourth quarter, but Luol Deng's dramatic three-pointer tied it
six seconds from time and they then blew away a tiring Macedonia in
the extra period.
HOCKEY
England suffered a 4-0 defeat to Australia in the
final of the Champions Trophy in Monchengladbach on Sunday. Luke
Doerner's fierce penalty corner gave the Australians a sixth-minute
lead and Des Abbot added a second a minute later to leave England
facing an uphill task. Jason Wilson added a third for Australia in
the 14th minute and, after rain delayed the start of the second half
by almost an hour, world player of the year Jamie Dwyer made it four
to give Australia their third consecutive Champions Trophy title.
TRIATHLON
Ukrainian Yuliya Sapunova pipped Great Britain's Jodie
Swallow to the finish line in Hungary to score her first World Cup
triathlon win. American Sara McLarty led through the swim and bike
ride in Tiszaujvaros, holding off the challenge of local favourite
Margit Vanek in the water before opening up a 90-second advantage on
the chasing group. |
