SAILING
Giles Scott claimed gold for Great Britain at the
Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta in Weymouth to end team-mate Ben
Ainslie's six-year dominance of the Finn class. The 23-year-old Scot
was able to adopt a cautious approach during the medal race, allowing
him to manage the 16.4-point lead he had held over Ainslie by
finishing eighth.
BASKETBALL
Great Britain faded badly in the second half as they
lost their opening European Championship for Women qualifier to
Slovakia 76-67 in Birmingham. A terrible third quarter saw Britain
surrender a 36-34 half-time lead to trail 56-48 and, despite a
battling fourth period, the damage was done.
ATHLETICS
South Africa's Oscar Pistorius set a new world record
for 400 metres in the T44 category at the Aviva London Grand Prix on
Saturday. Pistorius clocked a time of 47.04 seconds at Crystal
Palace, finishing more than four and a half seconds ahead of
Britain's Ian Jones. |
