Canada's Ryder Hesjedal edged Spain's David Garcia in
a sprint finish to win stage 12 of the Vuelta a Espana on Friday
afternoon, with Alejandro Valverde crossing the line in sixth spot to
retain the overall leader's golden jersey. Garmin-Slipstream rider
Hesjedal, a former mountain bike world champion, completed the 174
kilometre route from Almeria to Alto de Velefique in five hours, 34
minutes and 31 seconds. |
